Preparing for the hike
I moved my desk to a spare room in my house and lugged all of my gear up from the basement. So far I have mostly been focusing on getting my house rented out but once that small little detail is sorted out then I can start divvying up food drops and getting into the finer details of the hike itself.
Food Drops
I researched spots and towns that lack a grocery store, aren't too far off-trail, and are somewhat evenly spaced out along the 2000 mile stretch. This included the obvious google searches, browsing /r/AppalachianTrail, and speaking to people who have done the hike. This is the list that I cobbled together
#1: Fontana Dam: mile 502: heard that the only food sourse is the lodge, they know this and the prices reflect this.
#2: Bland, VA: mile 840: no grocery store
#3: Bland, VA: mile 840:
#4: Bland, VA: mile 840:
#5: Bland, VA: mile 840:
#6: Bland, VA: mile 840:
#7: Bland, VA: mile 840:
#8: Bland, VA: mile 840:
#9: Bland, VA: mile 840:
#10: Monson, ME: mile 2000: The last stop before the 100 Mile Wilderness. Definitely will need to reload the food bag here and having food waiting for me will be nice.
