Time-Lapses from the 2nd Half of the Trail

I was very happy with how the time lapses from the 1st half turned out so I decided to take even more during the rest of my hike. I was using my GoPro to capture the lapses during the first half but switched to my Sony A6500 for the second half which produced much higher quality photos.

Most of the crew got up early to get the breakfast buffet at Abol Bridge Store but I had enough food to skip it and sleep in. I left my last LotR book in the shelter and left a note with it hoping my friend Pipes would find it. He's been picking up my books since The Hobbit and now he was a week or so behind me. I also left my last trail log entry, using my go-to the Hunter S. Thompson quote

Hanover is home to Dartmouth College and thus is flush with bars so it can be quite a tough vortex to escape from. After staying at a trail angel's house I hung out in town for the morning before resupplying my food bag and hitting the trail. Fun fact: The Dartmouth Outdoor Club maintains the trail from the VT border to the start of the White Mountains.

We all had a pretty late start on July 5th and a few miles in we took a side trail to a swimming hole with a rope swing. Sandals, Green, and I jumped in a few times but the water was freezing cold so we didn't stay too long. Everyone splintered off but Waterboy and I kept going to Port Clinton which involved some night hiking and crossing a train yard while the night shift was shuffling tankers around.

I captured a few sunrises and views of Blood Mountain, Albert Mountain, Mount Rodgers, Dragon's Tooth, and McAfee's Knob.

In other news, after completing the 4-State Challenge I returned home to Baltimore, took a quick trip to Ocean City, saw a Dirty Heads concert at Pier 6, saw tons of friends, devoured some fresh crabs, and ate lots of home cooked meals. It was a superb break from the grind of the trail but I since returned back to the woods and have been slogging along through the rocks of Pennsylvania. Currently in Palmerton where I picked up some new shoes, did a food resupply, and grabbed lunch with some hikers at Bert's Steakhouse/Hostel. We are now debating staying in town and drinking beers or attempting the climb out of here on what we're calling the "Stairs to Mordor”

I decided that from now on I will have my zoom lens attached by default, if I see another bear I don't want to settle for a cropped and pixely photo. As I was hiking the last short bit of trail before departing the Shenandoahs I did catch a few deer. I met Billy right on time and he gave me a lift to Front Royal so I could reup my food and then we decided to eat at a pizza/sub shop for a last minute calorie binge
